Setting up P2P on HD Cameras with Insteon Hub

     Insteon is pleased to announce a new feature that we have implemented with our HD cameras. Automatic remote access (P2P) is now available to use with your Insteon HD Cameras when using the Insteon Hub (2242-xxx and 2245-xxx models only). This will allow users to avoid needing to configure a rule inside their router for access to the camera when they are away from home. This feature is live for both the Android and iOS applications. Please see below for instruction on how to get this set up:

Step 1: Login to your Insteon for Hub application on your mobile device.


Step 2: Navigate to "Add a device"


Step 3: Select the camera icon


Step 4: Verify that the camera is powered on and connected to the router using the supplied ethernet cable. Then hit "Next"


Step 5: The Hub application will list the cameras that it sees. Tap on the camera that you wish to add to your Insteon Hub. You will be able to see a screen shot of what the camera is looking at so that you can pick the correct camera.


Step 6: The Hub application will now take you to a screen where you can set the user name and password for the camera. Please remember to keep your username and password to ten (10) characters using only letters and numbers. Special characters and spaces can cause issues when trying to view your camera through the Hub application. When finished, hit "Next."


Step 7: Choose how you want to use the camera. Either on your Wi-Fi network or using the ethernet cable. If you choose Wi-Fi, the hub will scan your network and provide you with a list of wireless networks that it sees. Find and choose your wireless network.


Step 8: After you have chosen the proper Wi-Fi network, the app will prompt you to enter in your Wi-Fi password two (2) times. When finished, tap on "Next."


Step 9:  Now that you have entered in all the information that the camera needs, the Hub will begin to configure the camera.


Step 10: After all settings have been saved, the Hub application will prompt you to disconnect the ethernet cable (if using Wi-Fi) and power cycle the camera. This just means that you need to unplug the power cable for ten (10) seconds and then plug the power cable back into the camera. Hit "Next" after plugging the power cable back in. The application will begin searching for the camera.
        

Step 11: Once the camera comes online and the Hub is able to connect to it, the app will take you to the cameras settings page. Scroll down and ensure that "Automatic Remote Access" is turned On.



Step 12:  After verifying that the settings are correct, scroll back up to the top of the page. You can take this time to name the camera and adjust other settings as needed. Hit "Done" when finished. 

Verify that you have access to the camera by using a mobile device that works off of cellular data.
