Installing HD Camera Plugins to Windows PC

Currently, Chrome will only allow .crx extension files to be installed from the Chrome Web Store.
To install the current extension to a windows PC running chrome, please follow the steps outlined below.

1. Download the plug-in from the camera’s login page.

2. Find the file (plugins.crx) in the download directory and extract the file into a new folder. Please note that .crx files are basically just archive files, they can be extracted with any archiving program such as WinRAR or other tools.

3. In Chrome, go to menu () > more tools > extensions.

4. Enable Developer Mode in the upper right corner

5. Select Load Unpacked Extension… and navigate to and select the folder you created for the extension

6. Select Add when you see this screen.

7. If it is not selected by default, check Enabled.

8. Deselect Developer Mode and shut down Chrome, then re-launch.



In FireFox, Open the camera’s IP address

1. Download the plug-in from the camera’s login page.

2. Find the file (plugins.xpi) in the download directory.

3. In FireFox, go to menu ()  > Add-ons

4. Make sure that you are in the Extensions Tab

5. Select Configure ()> Install Add-on From File…

6. Select ‘plugins.xpi from’ the directory then select install now.

7. It should show up as follows.

8. Select Restart Now to restart FireFox

Internet Explorer

This has not changed since the SD Cameras


1. Go to the camera’s IP address and you will see the message below.

2. Select Allow

3. Install the ActiveX software from Smartlabs, Inc.


Currently, the Windows version of Safari does not support the Insteon HD cameras. The Windows version of safari does not accept 3rd party extensions.
